You can't wish for success, you have to work for it. If you've found yourself stuck in the planning phase or suffering from "analysis paralysis" because you think you still have more research to do or your not sure if you're plan is good enough, then this is for you. Here are five action items to get you unstuck and clear on your goals.
1) Clearly identify the end goal
What do you want to do? Where do you want to be? What does it look like? What will you have gained?All of these questions need to be answered, and they'll help you identify WHY you want to do this in the first place. If you want to grow your list, ask yourself why. If you want to create a new product or service, ask why. Your 'WHY' gets you up out of bed in the morning, long after the excitement has worn off.
2) Reverse engineer yours plans
Start with you end goal and work your way backwards. Write down everything that needs to be done for this project. Not sure what you need to do? Research! Research! Research! Once you've done your due diligence, come back to the drawing board. Write down what it would take to achieve your end goal. Want $1,000,000 is revenue? How much do you sell your product for?
$1,000,000 / $50 = 20,000 products sold ; 20,000 products / 52 weeks = 385 products a week ; 385 products a week / 7 days = 55 products per day.
You'd have to sell a $50 products approximately 55 times every day for 365 days to see $1,000,000 in revenue. When you break your goals down and reverse engineer them. You're no longer asking how do I make $1,000,000. Instead you're asking, how can I sell 55 products today? That helps you focus you efforts into daily tasks to achieve your larger goals.
3) Prioritize the first three things
Now that you have your list of all the things that need to be done, what are the first three things to tackle? What are the first three things that you need to do to move this project forward?
The plan doesn't work, unless you work the plan! Yes, once you identify the outcome, break the project into chunks and prioritize the tasks, you do actually need to do the work. This is where people usually get stuck when they haven’t done steps 1-3 (but not you, because you did them, right?)
5) Celebrate the little things
We are so conditioned to focus on what still needs to be done or what didn’t go according to plan, not what we’ve accomplished and what went well. Celebrating your progress is like practicing gratitude. When you do it consistently, it will be easier for you to focus on the positive - and that boosts confidence and joy!
